HOFFMANN Uno
Best known throughout Europe and the United States, Hoffmann is the
youngest Canadian artist to mount solo exhibitions at a number of
prestigious galleries and museums throughout Europe, including a major
solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (Lisbon).
Although his prolific
artistic career spans two decades, Hoffman's work has rarely been seen
in Toronto. As the art critic' Christopher Hume
(The Toronto Star) stated when reviewing a major retrospective of
Hoffmann's work, in 1990, "Hoffmann's work, like those of most
significant Canadian artists, are known throughout the world, and
share the truly Canadian distinction of being owned by museums and
private collectors elsewhere but are only known to a few in his native
Canada".
